Description

Landlord of the so-called “Bolgheri amphitheater”, the Guado al Tasso estate of Antinori mostly hosts allochthonous vines that have made and continue to make this part of Maremma great. Born in 2002, Bruciato is quickly absorbed as the estate’s reference wine, enjoying today a popularity that easily crosses national borders.

Its name refers to an episode of a few centuries ago, when some inhabitants of the area, who had been forbidden to hunt, set fire to a wood in protest and challenge to the lords of Bolgheri, the noble Della Gherardesca family, from which the Antinori then inherited the estate of Guado al Tasso.

With a preponderance of Cabernet Sauvignon and progressively lower percentages of Merlot and Syrah, with small balances of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the Bruciato pleases a heterogeneous public able to appreciate the Bolgheri terroir expressed with a touch of modernity.

Vinified separately, the grapes underwent malolactic fermentation partly in stainless steel and partly in barrique and then joined in the blend provided for the vintage, then aging in wood for up to eight months.

Il Bruciato presents itself to the taster with an intense and consistent ruby red color, inebriates with flavours of small black fruits such as blueberry and blackberry and then opens up to tertiary notes that recall sweet spices and tobacco. In the mouth it is soft and pleasant, with medium tannin and a high freshness that brings the sip to a welcome balance, before a closure with a slight fruity return.

Il Bruciato confirms itself as an elegant and seductive wine, capable of adapting well to many situations, casual and serious, alluring and able to amaze when needed, especially if proposed in large formats.
