Description

Born, grown and evolved in parallel with the epic red label of Brunello di Montalcino from Fattoria Poggio di Sotto, Rosso di Montalcino can easily compete with many other Brunellos thanks to the uniqueness of the Poggio di Sotto terroir and the great expressive yield of Sangiovese.

Produced with grapes with low yields carefully selected several times and harvested by hand in the vineyards of Castelnuovo dell’Abate, on mixed soils protected by the reassuring profile of Monte Amiata at heights varying between 200 and 450 meters above sea level, the Rosso di Montalcino makes its large groups of admirers and enthusiasts wait for a shorter aging period than Brunello but still important if compared to entry wines from other producers, equal to 24 months in oak barrels of 30 hectoliters and a further 6 months bottled before release to the public.

Concentration and complexity are evident already at a first visual-olfactory examination: wild fruit such as raspberry and black currant alternate with cedar, pepper, juniper, aromatic herbs, motivating the taster to deepen more and more the examination enjoying the emotions given by an increasingly oxygenated wine. The tasting confirms the premises and perhaps exceeds expectations, delivering a fresh wine, with softened tannins and which requires time to be well understood and explored in all its splendid facets.

The Rosso di Montalcino 2017 is confirmed as an elegant expression of the territory insinuating firmly in the groove traced by the great work of this winery, where quality, attention to raw materials, tradition and full understanding of the expectations of its customers they blend in an unforgettable melody played by an orchestra that has been making the history of Montalcino for some time now.
