The Montevertine estate is located in the municipality of Radda in Chianti in the province of Siena where we find the typical vines of the Chianti area: sangiovese, canaiolo and colorino.
Sangiovese in this area has unique expressions: fine and elegant, it focuses on “pinoteggianti” notes, with a slightly garnet color, full fruit, blood orange typical of this area and black spice. The resulting wine, therefore, is complex both in the nose and in the mouth; it has a great vertical freshness, a strong sapidity and is more drinkable than structured, even if it has great longevity. A unique product of its kind.
The company was bought in 1967 by Sergio Manetti, with the initial intention of renovating it and making it his holiday home, planting a few hectares of vineyards to produce wine for himself and loved ones. But already in 1971, given the results, the first wine was produced and marketed, with immediate recognition from national critics.
Strengthened by the feedback obtained, and therefore confident of the potential of the terroir, Sergio decides to devote himself exclusively to the production of quality wines, planting new vineyards and setting up new cellars.
The success he achieved exceeded the wildest expectations. Today, just drinking a glass of Pergole Torte, of any vintage, makes us enter a world of its own, that of Montevertine, made up of Sergio and his son Martino and the corporate oenologists Giulio Gambelli and Bruno Bini.
In fact, the Montevertine wines contain the pride of these men, their love for the Tuscan land and for their vineyards and the magic of one of the most beautiful and significant terroirs in the world. First with Sergio and now with his son Martino, the company has consolidated the bond between Sangiovese and its place of choice, Chianti, to become an extraordinary interpreter and loyal guardian of this extraordinary variety.
