G.D. Vajra

A family and artisan company founded in 1972 that today well represents tradition, love for their own land and work and the ability to innovate while remaining firmly linked to the place of birth.
Two generations coexist perfectly in a synchronized way carrying on a name, G.D. Vajra, now firmly linked to the land of Barolo and, more extensively, to Piedmont: this is a brief introduction of a such fascinating reality capable of producing fine wines appreciated all over the world without any compromise over time, indeed carrying on attentively and in first person projects aimed at respecting the environment, at the extremization of quality, both of the raw material and of the processes, at the translation into the finished product of extreme care and love for one’s work, their own life.
Starting from Barolo, near the Castello della Volta, G.D. Vajra has extended its vineyards, today up to 50 hectares, in various areas suited to the cultivation of vines, towards Novello, Monforte and Serralunga d’Alba, where the crus follow one another and the Nebbiolo finds a suitable soil to refine its character and therefore grow splendidly in an organic and environmentally sustainable regime.
G.D. Vajra embraces indeed a great tradition linked to the main grape of Piedmont wel alternated with a passion for other red grapes typical of the territory (Barbera, Dolcetto and Freisa) and even experimentation on white grapes, such as the Rhine Riesling, with surprising results.
It is therefore not surprising to find in G.D. Vajra a careful and rigid producer with respect to vineyard practices but also expert and loyal to tradition once in the cellar: the final result continues to amaze harvest after harvest, showing Barolo that clearly transmit their own territorial identity and are widely appreciated by international critics and by the most experienced enthusiasts of the beating heart of Piedmontese and all Italian viticulture.
