Giodo

«Giodo is first of all a story of Sangiovese, my first great love. Its name is a tribute to my parents, Giovanna and Donatello, to whom I owe everything “, so Carlo Ferrini tells the story of his farm: six hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Montalcino area, between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Sant ‘ Antimo.
One of the most important and respected winemakers in Italy, Sangiovesista by passion, Ferrini in 2002 – after years of work for the Chianti Consortium and for many important Tuscan producers – decided to found his farm to give life to a place capable of perfectly reflecting his idea of viticulture and wine.
Ferrini’s choices for Giodo are all based on careful and rigorous attention to every detail, in the vineyard and in the cellar: only eight Sangiovese clones wanted for Brunello, that is, those that have convinced him the most over the years, scrupulous and sustainable agronomic choices and artisanal vinification practices respectful of the extreme quality of the grapes. The result is a limited production of powerful, balanced and persistent wines, elegant expressions of the Montalcino terroir.
