Laurent Perrier
Founded in 1812, the Maison takes its name from the Laurent and Perrier families at the behest of Eugène Laurent’s widow, Mathilde Emilie Perrier, who put together the two surnames of the respective families. After various generational changes, the Maison was acquired in 1939 by Marie-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt who had the strength and stubbornness to carry on the winery during the Second World War and was joined by her son Bernard de Nonancourt starting from 1948 as administrator of a small company that produced just 80,000 bottles a year.
From that moment Laurent Perrier’s expansion began both in France and internationally in a bold, independent and also innovative way, always respectful of the winemaking tradition and based on the highest product quality.
Laurent Perrier is today one of the reference maison in Champagne, known all over the world for its fresh, elegant and modern imprint, which has entrusted the production to Michel Fauconnet, the third Chef de Cave of the maison, who from more than forty years knows all the secrets of the many champagnes proposed by Laurent Perrier in order to satisfy its vast international audience.
The maison pays a lot of attention to the practices in the vineyard applied to the three typical varietals of the region, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, acquiring grapes from many villages vocated to the production of great fruits for sparkling wine, including Premier Cru and Grand Cru, and then concentrating on the art of assembly and ageing in the cellars located in Tours-sur-Marne, also using bottles, wider than the typical champagne-type, inspired by those produced artisanally in the seventeenth century to contain the first champagnes.
The grapes, coming from the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte de Blancs, contribute to the creation of real references in the world of French bubbles such as the iconic Cuvée Grand Siècle and the famous Cuvée Rosé produced with only Pinot Noir grown in vines classified as Cru.
Laurent Perrier is a name that has accompanied the most important moments of life for decades, always elegant, fascinating and undoubtedly faithful to tradition and the territory it represents.
