Querciabella

Founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni, an entrepreneur lover of good French wine in Greve in Chianti, Querciabella, now led by Giuseppe’s son, Sebastiano, is a winery of international standing which makes its deep-rooted presence in Chianti and its most recent adventure in the Tuscan Maremma its best introduction, paying maximum attention to the tradition of the most classic Chianti and contaminating it, positively, with the adoption and use of international grapes, so as to produce famous Supertuscans whose names are now more than epic.
There are 106 hectares of vineyards within Querciabella, split between about 80 in the municipalities of Greve, Radda and Panzano in Chianti and the balance in the hinterland south of Grosseto, in a suitable position between the sea and the first hills: an incredible growth considering that in 1974 Giuseppe founded the winery by purchasing only one hectare, the “Vigna della Querciabella”, to begin planting the first grapes.
In the two estates, managed in a biodynamic regime for many years now, contributing to pave the way for this philosophy of management at a national level, maximum attention is paid to the soil and the ecosystem, applying the same care to the entire supply chain of materials used in production (an example are the certified oak barriques that support the planting of new trees in their otiginal areas).
The protagonist in the vineyard is definitely Sangiovese, which supports the large production of Chianti Classico and Riserva, flanked, also in blends, by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in red wines. Aging in barrique is a typical habit for Querciabella, which also uses tonneau for Chianti, skilled in using wood, its passages and roasting wisely, delivering wines with always velvety and never overwhelming tannins.
A winery in constant balance with the ecosystem but also with the history and the Tuscan wine tradition: this is Querciabella, a reality certainly known for some of its best-known wines, introduced in Winefully’s offer through its most iconic, desired and limited in production, all to be discovered.
