The term “Il Cantico della Figura” is seen as a composition of: “Il Cantico” and “della Figura”. “La Figura” refers to the church of Apiro dedicated to the Madona della Misericordia, also called Chiesa della Figura, since in Apiro, but not only, the small sanctuaries or votive niches containing small statues or frescoes of the Virgin Mary or other saints are called “figures” or “figures”. From a limited production of about 7000 bottles, the “Cantico della Figura” is a pure Verdicchio from the San Francesco vineyard, where a totally organic agriculture reigns, faithful to the company philosophy, in which the vineyard must be at the center of everything ‘. The vineyard is characterized by calcareous-clayey soils, vines over 50 years old and an altitude of 516 m above sea level.
In the cellar we proceed to a gentle pressing of the grapes and a consequent fermentation on the skins for about 2 weeks, followed by an aging on the lees in vitrified cement for 12 months, a material that does not excessively affect the typical characteristics of Verdicchio, preserving its identity.
The terroir is faithfully reflected in the quality of the wine. The elegance and refinement conferred by its minerality beautifully balance the remarkable structure, making it easier to drink.
These conditions allow the “Cantico della Figura” to be an extremely surprising wine even when young, but also to be part of the white wines of the great territories that manage to challenge time, gaining elegance and complexity.
The tasting of the “Cantico della Figura” reveals an elegant and mineral nose, which opens with fresh citrus notes, evolving into floral and ripe fruit notes, as well as Mediterranean scrub, which are the key to understanding this wine.
