Descrizione

This is a legend of Italian viticulture, one of the few names that are automatically associated with Brunello di Montalcino. Thanks to its success with national and international critics, as well as the small number of bottles produced (always fewer than 10,000), this is a wine for a select few.

Born lucky, this Brunello is born of land that is most suited to viticulture: it is rich in marl soil and sand, 400 metres above sea level and with exposure to the north-east of the Montalcino hill.

Its founder, Diego Molinari, passed away in 2019 after selling Cerbaiona in 2015. He always maintained a process that was 100% manual: careful selection of the grapes, spontaneous fermentation with the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts, maturation for about 3 years in oak barrels from Slavonia, and finally 1 year of bottle ageing.

An intense, garnet-red colour already foreshadows great intensity and complexity: the nose is decisive and deep, enveloping us with spicy notes of red fruits and undergrowth. In the mouth it does not betray: robust, austere, but also fresh and consistent, with tannin that elegantly accompanies its persistence.

Game and the more structured meats of the Tuscan hinterland are ideal combinations for this immortal wine which, in the magnum version (761 bottles in this vintage), can be forgotten in the cellar.
