In the heart of Saint-Émilion, one of the world’s most prestigious wine regions, stands Château Pavie Macquin—a Premier Grand Cru Classé B that embodies the excellence and tradition of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Founded in the 19th century by Albert Macquin, a visionary agronomist who introduced grafting onto American rootstocks to save the vineyards from phylloxera, the château remains in the hands of his descendants to this day.
Its story is a tribute to innovation and a deep passion for winemaking. The vineyard spans 15 hectares on the limestone plateau of the Côte Pavie, 100 metres above sea level, in the company of renowned estates such as Château Pavie and Château Troplong Mondot. The terroir—rich in deep clay and limestone—imparts exceptional complexity and minerality to the wines. The vines, averaging 35 years of age, are cultivated using biodynamic and organic practices, albeit without formal certification, in order to preserve the natural balance of the soil and the vineyard.
On the palate, Château Pavie Macquin stands out for its elegance and power. Aromas of dark fruit, sweet spices, and a hint of liquorice blend seamlessly with a velvety tannic structure and a vibrant minerality, ensuring impressive ageing potential.
Each bottle of Château Pavie Macquin is the result of unwavering dedication—a perfect balance of winemaking innovation and respect for tradition. It is a wine that speaks of its land, of the meticulous work carried out both in the vineyard and in the cellar, and of the unique identity that sets it apart in the Saint-Émilion landscape. Ideal for discerning collectors and connoisseurs, it offers far more than simple enjoyment—it is an experience to be treasured over time.
