Descrizione

Mareneve was born from a bold intuition: cultivating grape varieties typical of cold climates on the slopes of Mount Etna, at the extreme altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level, in Contrada Nave near Bronte. Federico Graziani, a sommelier and visionary winemaker, set out to explore the interaction between northern grape varieties and volcanic soil, creating a wine that blends tradition and innovation.

The vineyard, planted in bush-trained style in the early 2000s, hosts a unique mix of grapes: Carricante, Grecanico, Riesling Renano, Gewürztraminer, and Chenin Blanc. This combination reflects a desire to experiment and enhance the distinctive features of the Etnean terroir, characterized by volcanic soils, marked temperature fluctuations, and intense sunlight.

Harvesting takes place between late September and early October. The grapes are vinified together, undergoing spontaneous fermentation thanks to indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out, in order to preserve the wine’s natural acidity. Mareneve then matures for 12 months in stainless steel on fine lees, followed by 6 months of bottle aging.

Visually, Mareneve shows a bright straw yellow color with greenish highlights. On the nose, it reveals intense and aromatic notes of fresh tropical fruit (pineapple, white peach, lychee), accompanied by hints of white moss, rose, lemon granita, volcanic stone, and a saline nuance. On the palate, it is harmonious, fresh, refined, and vertical, with a persistent saltiness that evokes the purity of snow and the sea breeze.
