For fans of sparkling Chardonnay, Giulio Ferrari Collezione is an edition that goes beyond the cult already represented by the Founder’s Reserve and makes it unique, rare and particularly coveted, an icon and a reference wine for the whole territory capable of comparison with the most famous Champagnes.

Its story begins with Mauro Lunelli (one of Bruno’s three sons who took over the company from Giulio Ferrari), who spontaneously kept some special vintages for about eight years, which, once shared with the two brothers Franco and Gino , gave life, in 1980, to the Founder’s Reserve: a special label to be produced only in the best vintages, dedicated precisely to Giulio Ferrari. The story continues, enriching itself with successes and recognitions, which raise this label into the Olympus of world bubbles and which, in only a very few years, is pushed to levels of refinement never achieved by Italian sparkling wines.

In fact, there are only four vintages of the Giulio Ferrari Collezione: after 1995 and 1997, 2001 and now 2004, produced in just 3906 examples.

From owned vineyards at 500-600 meters above sea level. 18 years of average permanence on the yeasts, which help this pure Chardonnay to develop a unique elegance and structure, from visual examination, with its very fine and persistent perlage, to that taste-olfactory.

Defining the latter as broad may be an understatement: peach and pineapple stand out in the complexity of the bouquet, alternating with marked saline and spicy references, reminiscent of cardamom and ginger, to continue on the tertiary notes of caramel and sweet flours. In the mouth there is a lively and dynamic energy, a never-tame freshness that is enveloped in an elegant minerality, and then gives way to an infinite persistence.
