The modernity of the Trento Doc is expressed by one of Ferrari’s latest releases, Perlè Zero: part of the now iconic Perlè family, it expresses the essence of mountain Chardonnay declined in an unmetered version that is the result of a skilful blending of base wines that can be traced back to several vintages and is named after the year it was bottled.
Produced for the first time in the 2010 vintage with grapes from the 2009, 2008 and 2006 vintages, it reaches its fifth edition after a good six years spent on the lees in the splendid labyrinth of tunnels that lie below Cantine Ferrari’s headquarters in Ponte di Ravina, Trento, confirming the vocation of excellent sparkling wines to sustain long aging and then captivate with elegance, richness and personality.
With a brilliant straw yellow color with golden reflections and an elegant, numerous and persistent perlage, Perlè Zero immediately conveys a clear verticality to the nose, showing grapefruit notes interspersed with pineapple, apricot, mountain hay and spicy hints that blend with iodine and herbal notes.
Given the broad olfactory spectrum, the sip can only be in line with expectations, opening to great freshness and minerality, traits that markedly distinguish the Ferrari style, enriched by a long persistence and a closure with a citrusy and slightly spicy return. Surprising cleanliness in the mouth once swallowed and impossible not to be tempted to taste again.
For some years now a new benchmark in Ferrari production, Perlè Zero has been gaining increasing attention and success among a diverse public, which appreciates a reduction in the sugar content of sparkling wines and which continually seeks the truest expression of individual grape varieties: an expression, that of mountain Chardonnay, of which Cantina Ferrari is a master in Italy and the world.
