The Gorgona project was born in August 2012 through the collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, the only island-penitentiary in Europe. With this project, inmates learn a trade, useful once they finish serving their sentence, but most importantly, Wine represents social redemption. This vineyard of Vermentino and Ansonica yields an unrepeatable wine that is the fruit of terroir, human labor and a symbol of hope and freedom. The label changes each vintage, to always be “the extraordinary edition” of the island and tell, each year a different aspect of it.
A straw yellow with intense golden hues. On the nose here are notes of Mediterranean scrub, thyme, rosemary, and sage, against a mineral and iodine background; there are also fruity notes such as peach, pink grapefruit, and hints of almond. In the mouth, minerality and freshness return, with hints of ripe fruit. Elegance and persistence are not lacking, a goblet that brings to mind hot summer, the murmur of the sea and a touch of the wild.
