Born of the 1985 harvest and put on the market in 1988, this wine immediately became a star amongst the Super Tuscans: Ornellaia Rosso is the most representative of the Tenute dell’Ornellaia wines.

2016 was a highly successful year that highlighted all of the characteristics of the Bolgheri terroir.The knowledgeable combination of elements makes it possible to obtain wine that is perfectly balanced and emphatic.

Softness and toughness, opposing forces kept in perfect equilibrium, provide this wine with depth and vibrant tension that is perceived from the first sip onwards. Its deep, dark red, is profound and mysterious, the nose intriguing and varied, and is provided by the blend of vines that play together in unison. It opens with notes of small blackberries, blueberries, blackberries, cassis, and a mineral note, to then move on to spices, such as cardamom, liquorice and cocoa. The sip does not disappoint, it is rich and full-bodied, with a beautiful tannic texture, with juicy and vertical acidity.

This is a young wine, but we can already perceive its great potential and long life.
