Gaja’s Barbaresco is one of the most prestigious, elegant and world-renowned Italian wines, a witness to a unique and unmistakable style, a true icon of Piedmontese and Italian wine.
As evidence of its prestigious success, suffice it to mention that the 1985 Gaja Barbaresco was described by Wine Spectator as “the best Wine ever made in Italy.”

Intense, soft and velvety, this red wine comes from Nebbiolo grapes selected by hand from 14 different vineyards located in the municipalities of Barbaresco and Treiso, a multiplicity of terroirs that we find in the countless taste-olfactory facets that make this Wine “the Barbaresco” par excellence.

As many as 14 vineyards are involved in the municipality of Barbaresco, ranging in altitude from 250 to 330 meters above sea level, with a total area of 21.4 hectares.
Refinement involves 1 year in barrique, separately for each blend; then, after blending, an equal number of 12 months in large barrels, and finally another year in bottle before release. Unquestionably exciting right out of the box, it is suggested-as a good rule for most Gaja wines-to let it rest in the cellar a few years to better appreciate the great qualities that will mature over time.
In the glass, Gaja’s Barbaresco has an intense garnet color with orange reflections; on the nose, the olfactory impact is clear and determined, with well-defined fragrances of berries, blueberries and cherries, as well as floral notes of violets, spicy and mineral hints.
The sip is harmonious and elegant. The tannic texture is balanced and very refined.
