2016Descrizione
Born from the genius of Carlo Ferrini, a winemaker who can boast a career as a consultant for the likes of Casanova di Neri, San Leonardo, Barone Ricasoli…, this Brunello is characterized by refinement and drinkability. Giodo in fact stands for Giovanna and Donatello, Carlo’s parents, and was born in 2009, six years after the estate was purchased, with an initial production of less than a thousand bottles.
The fact that the grapes come from a single estate, as well as the aging in tonneau (“medium” cask, aka 500-700 liters), aimed at not conditioning the wine’s temperament too much, means that Giodo’s personality is a spontaneous expression of the terroir and vintage to which it belongs.
In 2016, a five-star vintage for almost the entire Montalcino appellation, the success of the 2015 vintage was reconfirmed, both in terms of quantity and awards, earning 100 points from James Suckling for the second year in a row.
Already complex and captivating, the nose leads us into a swirl of fruity and spicy notes, with a balsamic undertone. In the mouth great balance and harmony, softness and persistence: this brunello has all the characteristics of a great wine to accompany rich earthy and mountain dishes. Excellent immediate drinkability, great omens for the future!
