It is not clear who fascinated Wiston Churchill the most, if the emotion transmitted by the legendary 1928 vintage of this historic maison, served at a post-liberation celebration dinner in Paris (1944), or the charm of its brand ambassador, Odette Pol Roger , daughter-in-law of the progenitor’s son. The fact is that the great statesman, as well as a well-known champagne lover, has never lost an opportunity to reiterate his marked preference for Pol Roger, so much so that, 10 years after his death, the Maison decides to pay homage to him with his rarest and most exclusive production: a “selection of the selections”, produced only in the best vintages (just 6 in the last 10), which is released 9 years after its harvest. Thus was born in 1975 the cuvée Sir Wiston Churchill, on the market in 1984 precisely, nowadays counted by international critics as one of the best champagnes in the world. The robustness of the pinot noir and the elegance of the chardonnay selected and refined for this reserve already surprise by the bright gold color and the very fine and incessant perlage. What about the bouquet: floral and spicy notes on one side, vanilla and candied fruit on the other, are the premise for the intense and exciting taste-olfactory experience that deepens with the sip. An incredible sensation of freshness opens the way to the palate, transmitting intense citrus textures, which then give way to apple and green tea.
