Descrizione

Preceded by its fame but linked to a winery with its feet firmly on the ground rooted in the purest Montalcino tradition, Livio Sassetti’s Brunello di Montalcino Pertimali is able to break records year after year, confirming itself as one of the wines most appreciated by international critics and therefore most sought after by a large audience of collectors who want to make it their own.

And yet, beyond the media hype, dieto the Pertimali there is a simple story, one of a family history made up of generations that have followed one another in working the land, protecting it, enhancing it, loving it, always in a serious and discreet way but with very clear ideas.

Produced with grapes from the vineyards of Montosoli, on the northern slope of Montalcino where marl, alberese and tuffaceous clays reign to protect and enrich the roots of plants often exposed to a continental climate with higher rainfall than on other slopes and ventilation with an important weight in marking the style of wine produced here.

The 2016 vintage is universally acclaimed as exceptional, a vintage reminiscent of the quality peaks reached in 1990. The weather has been really forgiving over the months, following the seasons well and providing rainfall at the right times, without generating water stress in the summer period.

The result is of historic quality: acidity, structure and elegance confirm the excellence of the grapes arrived at harvest and the great aging potential.

To the taster, the Brunello di Montalcino Pertimali is an intense ruby color with garnet reflections, introducing to the nose a broad and complex bouquet that only prolonged oxygenation can bring out the best in all its facets. Violet, dark cherry, blackberry, and even underbrush, sage, licorice, dried orange peel, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, tobacco, leather, mint, even a hint of mushroom, truffle and black olives: difficult to think of an olfactory experience of such richness, immediately followed by a full and powerful sip, where minerality and tannins rule the day while supported by a pleasant freshness, before giving way to an interminable persistence enhanced by floral and spicy returns.

It is not out of place to confess how Livio Sassetti’s Brunello di Montalcino Pertimali is able to leave one speechless and how such a sensation is so pleasant in its simplicity and uniqueness.

Winefully hopes to make you experience the same emotions by offering Pertimali in the rare Magnum format, surely a gem to make your own.
