Descrizione

A forerunner of the Super Tuscan and progenitor of the great Bolgheri wines, the Sassicaia from Tenuta San Guido was the brainchild of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who dreamed of creating a purebred, aristocratic wine that would be reminiscent of wines from Bordeaux. It was designed as a table wine in 1968, with a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc and has never changed.

In the glass it has an intense ruby-red colour and the nose provides hints of red fruits, morello cherry, blackcurrant, sweet spices, liquorice, and notes of Mediterranean shrubs. The sip is elegant without being harsh, and rich and varied. The sweet tannins are perfectly balanced, with freshness and flavour.

It is inexorably attractive, and its persistence creates sensations that only such an aristocratic wine can provide.
