Forerunner of the Super Tuscans and progenitor of the great Bolgheri wines, the Sassicaia of Tenuta San Guido was born from the idea of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta who dreamed of creating a thoroughbred and aristocratic wine that recalled the wines of Bordeaux. Designed as a table wine in 1968 with a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc and never changed.

The carefully selected grapes in the vineyard arrive in the cellar where they are pressed and, after alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, at the beginning of December the wine is transferred to French oak barriques for refinement, which depends on the progress of the vintage, and goes from 20 to 25 months.

In the glass it has an intense ruby red color, the nose offers hints of red fruits, morello cherry, currants, sweet spiciness, liquorice and notes of Mediterranean scrub. The sip is elegant without harshness, rich and varied. The sweet tannins are in perfect balance with freshness and flavor.

The drink attracts inexorably, the very long persistence gives the emotions that only such an aristocratic wine can give.
