Descrizione

The Nebbiolo Vigna Valmaggiore by Bruno Giacosa represents the introduction to a specific territory which, although close to its area of origin, presents notable diversity and peculiarities and which the great winemaker from Neive offers to his admirers so as to prepare them for the full understanding of the individual cru and reserves.

Raised in the land of Serralunga d’Alba, he harks back to the most rigorous Piedmontese tradition in the best style of Bruno Giacosa.

Rigor: it is a concept that is gaining ground in viticulture also thanks to the greater diffusion of organic and non-organic methods, but it must be remembered that in some areas of Italy this has been present since previous generations and Bruno Giacosa, in his humility and discretion , he was its ambassador.

Discipline and precision, therefore, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, without deviating from what was learned firsthand which had already brought so much success to the Giacosa family, therefore applying rigor both to something of its own (the owned vineyards) and of third parties , like the grapes delivered from carefully selected plots known inch by inch. Of course, the conditions were excellent right from the start: persistent vineyards on particularly suitable soil, healthy, well-kept plants with the best exposure and obviously quality-oriented vineyard practices, with very low yields and exaggerated concentrations.

Nebbiolo produced with grapes coming from the “Valmaggiore vineyard” in the Alba area, selected and harvested manually. In the cellar the fermentation takes place in steel, and then refines for about 12 months in large wooden barrels, and a further 6 in the bottle before being put on the market.

Tasting: an intense ruby color with garnet nuances. The complexity immediately emerges on the nose, ranging from floral notes of dog rose, violet to small red fruits enriched with toasted notes, liquorice and a balsamic finish. It is balanced in the mouth and on the palate the sip is full-bodied with well-integrated tannins. Soft and long finish.

Giacosa’s Nebbiolo is a wine to know to fully understand the production philosophy of this great protagonist of the Langa and be ready to fully embrace it.
