Descrizione

There is a Barbera that tells the story of the Langa with a firm and luminous voice. It is born in Monforte d’Alba, in the Vigna Martina, a cru planted on calcareous marls tending to sandy soils at 380 meters, facing south and southwest. The Grasso family cultivates and vinifies only grapes from their own vineyards, with the clear intent of letting the land speak above all. The story began in 1988 and continues today with meticulous hand-harvesting between late September and early October, fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and aging in French oak barriques, resulting in a Barbera of vigor and refinement.

Elio Grasso loves to describe himself first as a farmer and then as a winemaker—a declaration of style that reveals vineyards tended with patience and parcels vinified separately. From Vigna Martina comes a Barbera of integrity and elegance, grown among woods and meadows in the heart of the UNESCO-protected Langhe.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, violet, fine pepper and blond tobacco, lifted by a subtle mineral note. The oak aging refines without weighing down, offering gentle hints of vanilla and cocoa. On the palate, the attack is juicy and vertical, guided by Barbera’s hallmark acidity, while dense yet silky tannins give depth. The finish is long and saline, with lingering notes of sour cherry and dark spice.

The Magnum format enhances harmony and slows evolution, making it ideal for following the wine’s energy over time. It is the perfect choice for those seeking an artisanal Barbera that unites freshness, substance and precision—ready to be enjoyed alongside the great cuisine of Piedmont, or cellared with confidence to reveal new nuances with age. A Langa in the first person, signed Elio Grasso.
