Taittinger

The Maison Taittinger is a family business, with almost a century of history behind it.
It all began in 1932 with Pierre Taittinger, a former young Parisian officer, who, having fallen in love with the Marquetterie castle, a stone’s throw from Epernay in the heart of the vineyards, purchased it with the desire to produce Champagne. He certainly could not have foreseen that one day it would become the beginning of a family destiny.
Subsequently, in 1934, he took over one of the oldest Maisons in Champagne, Château Forest-Fourneaux, to implement his own hectares of vineyards and, having become a prominent politician, he entrusted the management of the company to his brother-in-law Paul and his children.
François Taittinger, Pierre’s third son, managed it from 1945 to 1960, making it grow little by little and, when he realized that competition was starting to develop in Champagne, he laid the foundations for future activity: he changed the name of the brand to Taittinger, to honor the family name. Also worth mentioning is Jean, Pierre’s other son, who takes care of the management of the vineyards, supporting the family business.
Since 2006 it has been the third generation with Pierre Emmanuel who, for over 40 years, has held the reins of Taittinger, always supported by his children Clovis and Vitalie who manage and raise the family name.
Today the maison owns approximately 288 hectares, distributed in all the main areas of Champagne, including many grand crus. All vineyards are managed using the most advanced techniques in sustainable and responsible viticulture practice. For several years we have also been experimenting with mass selection on our own vines, to preserve the company’s heritage.
The objective since the birth of this maison has always been the pursuit of excellence, carried forward by this new generation with great skills, bringing together knowledge of the past and a commitment to the future, always in growth.
Vitality, inspiration, strategy and development have helped shape the Maison’s reputation.
